The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved hiring Palmer Group as a headhunter agency to fill a city employee position, heard about the upcoming Bonnie and Clyde Fun Run on April 26th, and approved the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day on May 17th. They also once again heard about maintenance of a platted street north of 818 North Main Street from Steve James and Greg Irving, approved Homes4Harvest LLC for a mowing contract including North and South Oak Grove Cemeteries, and Schwinger Lawn Service Inc for a spraying contract for North and South Oak Cemeteries.

The Council then approved a building inspection hourly contract proposal with Veenstra and Kimm, a recommended change to a city code section regarding arterial commercial zoning permitted uses, a legal opinion from City Attorney Steve Brick regarding a petition received on an electric franchise fee, a memorandum of understanding between the City of Stuart and Stuart Municipal Utilities and an agreement between the two entities regarding the electric franchise fee and right of way. They tabled a partial payment of $86,089.38 to McAninch Corporation, as they are displeased with the progress of the group regarding the Wambold 3rd Addition, since the project was supposed to be completed last fall, and they have recently heard that it should be done in spring.

The Council approved setting a fee of $500 per day until completion regarding additional liquidated damages for the Wambold 3rd Addition project, a pay estimate of $41,611.28 for street lighting for the Wambold 3rd Addition project, and heard an update from Veenstra and Kimm Engineer Forrest Aldrich on a planned reconstruction project for White Pole Road. They then tabled a decision on City property and liability insurance proposals until March 25th, and appointed Kevin Guisinger and Aaron Keller as members of the Planning and Zoning Committee.
