An event is happening this Friday at a farm in Greene County for people to learn more about benefits of newer technology with cattle.

Justin Robbins, of Robbins Land + Cattle, tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are hosting the Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers for people to check out a newly built structure to house part of their cattle operation that involves some cutting edge technology. He says this project started several years ago in partnership with the Coalition organization and Robbins emphasizes the great working relationship that he has developed with them.

“They’re actually kind of helping the farmer look at the things that maybe like myself that I don’t think about. The little things along the way that maybe you need to double check with this agency or double check with these neighbors, you know, ‘Hey go do this or go do that.’ So they really give you kind of a checklist on things to do when you’re doing a project like what we did with this barn.”

Robbins points out that Friday’s program is for other producers and like-minded individuals to learn from other experts in this field, as he sees what this new structure can allow producers like his family farm to do.

“So there’s going to be people here talking about the building itself. There’s going to be people talking about the reasoning for putting some cattle under roof. It’s going to be basically people here from all avenues of the livestock industry to be able to share their opinions, and there’s no one right answer to anything, so it’s just a little bit of everything revolving around cattle and this kind of building.”

The program is from 11am to 2pm with a complimentary meal served at noon and the program to follow. The address to attend is 904 Emerald Avenue in Scranton.
