As the 2025 Iowa Legislative Session continues, legislators are keeping the bills moving through the chambers.

Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair knows that there’s a reason the bills are making their way through the legislature though, and that’s because their constituents talk with them on issues they see or believe need to be taken care of. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is a reason she enjoys having groups visit the capitol.

“I love having people come in and share with me what their priorities are. Most of the time when I am involved in drafting legislation, advancing legislation, it’s because one of my constituents has come to me and said, this is a problem, can you help me fix it? And that happens when I’m able to meet with folks.”

Sinclair mentions that she has had many groups visit her already this session, including veterinarians, the Director General of Taiwan, and a group of Young Cattlemen, elementary students who participate in the cattle industry. She adds that she loves knowing in advance when people would like to visit her, because if there isn’t much going on for meetings or on the floor, she can show them a little more behind the scenes of the Capitol Building.
