Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be holding a vital training course for those youth who are interested in showing certain animals at the County or State Fair.
Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum says that they will be hosting their final in person Youth for the Quality Care of Animals training on March 21st. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what the program covers.
“So it just goes over the general care of animals, the code of ethics. Always be responsible, respectful to you and your animals, your peers. Overall, just be a good human and treat your animals like you would want to be treated.”
Blum mentions that this is a required course for those wanting to show animals other than dogs and horses at the Guthrie County Fair or Iowa State Fair. She adds that the training will take place March 21st from 10-11am, with proof that the course has been completed must be turned in to her by June 15th.
