An athlete on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Track and Field team describes how she supports her teammates during a meet.
ADM senior Aniston Tollari, who primarily runs the open 200 and 400 meters and long jumps, explains that the atmosphere for the Tiger Track and Field team is similar to that of a family bond. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what her method is to cheer on her teammates in a race.
“When they’re out there competing, I usually try and get inside on the track. I’m screaming, like I’m telling them to obviously run faster, they can’t hear me and they’re trying their best, but whatever works. Just like I know that the support is there and it’s like reciprocated as well.”
Tollari elaborates that the night prior to a meet, she will try to get approximately 10 hours of sleep while also eating healthy snacks throughout the day. She wants to further her personal record in the long jump by hitting 18 feet by the end of the season. ADM just competed in the Iowa Association Track Coaches Indoor Championships on Friday in Ames and will be going to Pella this Friday for the Central College Girls Indoor Meet.
