Since the inaugural Nature Walk took place earlier this year, the Youth Services Department at Jefferson Public Library is looking to see even more people join them later this week.
Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount is partnering with Greene County Conservation Naturalist Jacob Fernholz to lead the Spring Nature Walk on Friday from 9:30-10:30am at Squirrel Hollow Park. She states the first one was held in January and it was very cold outside at Spring Lake Park, but with this one taking place at the end of the week, she is hoping for warmer weather and more families to participate, with students on spring break from school this week. Mount talks about what will be the focus of the Spring Nature Walk.
“Well, we are focusing on birds again. So we’re going to see as the weather is getting warmer, who’s about and who’s is back, because really don’t know what to expect. I’m hoping maybe we’ll see some deer or other local wildlife that isn’t of the feathery variety. But really, I love what I do and I’m using this as an excuse to marry my love of my work to my love of going outside.”
Friday’s program is free and open to the public, with no registrations necessary. Mount adds that attendees should dress for the weather.
