The Perry girls soccer team has a new coach in 2025. Perry graduate and former Bluejay soccer player, Cesar Hernandez, steps in as the head man. Gary Overla has been at the helm of the boy’s program for over two decades and had a chance to coach the new Jayette leader.
Coach Overla thinks this is a good change for Perry. “He’s done really well for himself and I’m really proud of what he’s done. I think he’s gonna work out really well.” He also added he thinks the play style might change for the girls. “I don’t think they’re gonna be out physicalled in any game.”
The first week of practice is ongoing for the Jayettes. They are using spring break to get two practices a day in.
The Jayettes play their first game on March 31 against Des Moines Christian at Dewey Field.
