The day following another blizzard in Greene County is the continuing effort for clean up.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says after the plow trucks and maintainers were out yesterday, mainly in northwestern Greene County, the Secondary Roads crews will be back out today removing more snow from the county roads. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the plow trucks started at 5am, while the maintainers began at 6am.

Midland Power Cooperative also had several outages reported during the height of the storm. Director of Communications Ryan Henn tells Raccoon Valley Radio they were receiving reports of outages starting mid-morning on Wednesday, and then when the weather transitioned to more sleet and snowfall, the number of outages shot up. At the peak, Henn says there were as many as 450 outages system-wide, with Greene County being the hardest hit area, and over 200 customers without power, mostly in northern Greene County.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says there were lots of vehicles that were in the ditch yesterday, and a couple of jackknifed semis across some state highways that blocked lanes of traffic for a time. He adds that no one was hurt from any of the vehicles that went off of the roadways.

According to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, the very northern edge of the county had as much as six inches of snowfall down to one inch in the southern portion of the county.
