The leader of the Perry Community School District unveils the educational process that will benefit all students.

According to Superintendent Clark Wicks, a presentation was given about the District Career and Academic Plan for Perry Schools by Director of Teaching and Learning Kevin Vidergar and Guidance Counselor Tami Valline at the March School Board meeting. He says that the purpose is to get students to begin thinking about what career they want, identify their passions, and the possibilities to reach their goals. Wicks mentions that Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) VanKirk Career Academy Director Eddie Diaz and Academic Advisor Connie Saenz gave an overview of what’s called “Career Advantage Plus.”

“And basically what they’re talking about is instead of taking classes at DMACC that aren’t aligned to a particular (career) path, they want to try and guide cohort groups into taking classes that align with each other, connect with each other, so they come out to an academic path that will help better themselves as they proceed with their academic career.”

Wicks is appreciative of the hard work that staff members between Perry Schools and DMACC are doing to help students reach their full educational potential.
