With the population of Dallas County increasing dramatically, it can be tough to reach voters in elections and that’s where sometimes additional measures are needed.
Dallas County Auditor Todd Halbur explains there are currently 39 polling locations across the county for residents to vote at. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the benefits of satellite locations is that it gives voters more availability outside of the 39 polling areas on Election Day. Halbur says that these satellite locations are established by a petition from county residents whether they want satellite locations and how many they’d like to have. He welcomes any feedback from people going forward.
“And we’re open to that. (It’s) accessible to voters. I think it was very successful this last go-around. What it does is, it just allows a day where you don’t have to come into the auditor’s office in Adel. We’ll put those throughout the county, wherever those need to be.”
Halbur mentions that he wants Dallas County to have good election integrity and outlines that it’s a collaborative effort between work going on behind the scenes with the Information Technology Department and employees at the polling sites.
