The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved helping clear trees around Valley Township Cemetery after they heard from Cody Sheeder about work needed at the Valley Township Cemetery, which is on the north side of Bluff Street near Industrial Road. Sheeder, shared that there are several trees growing up through the fence around the cemetery, and asked the Council if they would be open to using City equipment to clear them away, and the Valley Township Trustees would repair whatever fence needed to be.

The Council also approved naming Tony Young as the nuisance abatement officer, as he has done an excellent job previously, along with setting a public hearing for the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget for April 14th, and approving hiring Professional Financial Management as financial advisors. They also heard the report left by Compliance Officer Wes Clark, who shared on an issue with a motor home, and a car port.
