
Simpson College hosted a high school coed track & field meet on Tuesday in Indianola with Greene County among the participating schools. The Rams scored 61 points and finished sixth among seven boys’ teams while the girls’ were seventh in a nine team field with 41 points. The team champion for boys was Indianola with 161.5 points and Indianola scored 200 points to win the girls’ team title. Valley (West Des Moines), Carlisle, Norwalk, and Wayne (Corydon) had both girls and boys teams. Treynor’s boys, and girls from Urbandale, Dallas Center-Grimes and Knoxville were also participating. The meet was the first of the outdoor season for all the teams and weather conditions were good for this time of year.
The highest finish for the Rams were four events that placed second, three of those in the field. Senior Emma Ewalt threw the discus 123 feet, eight inches. Senior Daniele Madsen had a best toss of 36′ 2″ in the shot put, and junior Broc Stream went 20′ 8″ in the long jump. The boys were second in the distance medley relay in 3:44.69 with sophomore Zach Stalder, Broc Stream, senior Nicholas Stream, and junior Drew Wolterman.
