The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday night, following a public hearing.
The public hearing on the fiscal year 2025-26 proposed property tax levy was opened at 5:30pm, and with no written or verbal comments, was then closed and the meeting was adjourned at 5:32pm. This was due to the state law that local governmental entities have to hold separate, stand-alone public hearings for the next fiscal year property tax levy. The regular city council meeting was then opened, and the Council set the public hearing for the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget for April 14th at 5:30pm. The Council then approved the second reading to amend an ordinance pertaining to electric utility code, which was then adopted into City Code. They also forwarded a request to vacate alleys abutting property at 421 Northeast 2nd Street to the Planning and Zoning Committee to get their recommendations before the Council took any more action. Finally, they approved a revised electric utility inspection and maintenance plan.
