The Jefferson City Council will meet twice tomorrow night.

The first meeting begins at 5:30pm with a public hearing on the proposed property tax rate for the 2026 fiscal year. Then following the hearing, the meeting will adjourn.

The second meeting will start at 5:45pm where the Council is expected to set the public hearing on the 2026 fiscal year budget, the second reading to amend an ordinance with the species of trees that are allowed and not allowed to be planted in the public easements, as well as the required spacing for the tree plantings. The Council will also consider for approval a 28E agreement with the city of Paton for the Jefferson Public Works Department to collect recycling. The Council also cancelled next week’s regular meeting due to some city staff and council will attend the Main Street America conference where Jefferson Matters is being considered for one of three finalists for the Great American Main Street Award.

The meeting will be held in person at the City Hall Council Chambers.
