Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a workshop this weekend for those interested in showing rabbits at the Adair County and Iowa State Fairs.

Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the event will be held at the MidAmerican Arena on the Adair County Fairgrounds from 1-3pm. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what will be covered at the workshop.

“They’re going to be going over ID for rabbits such as tattooing, fundamentals of rabbit showmanship, different breeds of rabbits, what to look for in a show rabbit. There’ll be some talk on how to build a transportation cage.”

Savage mentions that it’s not too late to sign up for the workshop, just give her a call at the Extension Office at 641-743-8412. She adds that Bomgaars in Winterset has also graciously provided some door prizes for those in attendance for the workshop, so there will be some fun prizes as well.
