
The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, Jefferson Mayor Craig Berry made a donation on behalf of the Cyclists of Greene of $3,500 to Greene County Conservation Board for the Raccoon River Valley Trail project.
County Attorney Thomas Laehn also gave an update. He said his office is preparing a handful of criminal cases that are slated for next week’s jury trial, but he anticipated that the one case that is believed to go to trial will take four days. He also talked about his intern from Paton-Churdan with senior Grace Cullum. She primarily did research and found 70 convicted individuals who were still owed restitution from their respective cases to track down and have them pay. Laehn also reported that the two applicants from the recent round of opioid settlement funds are expected to be considered by the Supervisors for 28E agreements with the Greene County Peace Officers Association and Midwest Behavior Recovery.

Greene County Conservation Board Director Tanner Scheuermann that they received a letter for funding from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation toward the bike trail project, a $35,000 grant from the Greene County Community Foundation for a water hook up at Squirrel Hollow Park and they applied for a $360,000 for a land/water conservation fund grant.
The Board then approved the resignation of Ashley Miller and Gail McDonald as Hardin Township Clerk and Trustee respectively, as well as the appointment of Melissa Barrett and Mike Bravard as the new Hardin Township Clerk and Trustee respectively. They also approved the Five-Year Construction Plan and the Iowa Department of Transportation 2026 fiscal year budget. Additionally, the Board approved a resolution awarding a $124,310 contract to Vogel Traffic Services to do various pavement markings across the county, and a resolution to award Dixon Construction Company for $855,770 with the county to pay half for a bridge replacement on A Avenue over a drainage district with Carroll County to pay the other half.
Finally, the Board approved a resolution to reset the initial public hearing to discuss the proposition to enter into a loan agreement and issue not to exceed $2 million of general obligation capital loan notes for the HVAC project for the Greene County Courthouse on April 14th at 9am. County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins said that because their lawyer firm with this financing option was not ready to publish the original public hearing that was set for April 7th, the hearing was pushed back one week.
