A reminder that a friendly interactive competition is still going on in Dallas County, but it is coming to an end soon.
According to Dallas County Auditor Todd Halbur, the inaugural “I Voted” Sticker Design Contest is currently open for students in sixth through eighth grades to create their own version for the county to be given to people that exercise their civic duty when voting in elections. He explains that the competition is available for students enrolled in public or private schools, as well as those who are homeschooled, plus students that live in Dallas County, but might go to school outside of the county. Halbur expresses the importance of educating younger individuals about the political realm.
“I think it just brings back a little bit of connectivity with our youth, having them apart of the election process in a different, creative way as far as them designing a sticker, but then also them coming to our election webpage (and) maybe picking up some information about elections.”
Halbur details that the sticker contest only applies to Dallas County and the sticker will not be used across the state. He notes this year’s winner will be featured in the 2025 city and school general election this November. Halbur says that students still have until this Monday at 4:30pm to submit their designs online. For more information or to access the form, click here.
