The Friends of the Jefferson Library is having two events happening during National Library Week.
Ginny Showman with the Friends is organizing the 3rd Annual Murder Mystery that is taking place next Friday and Saturday at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Clubhouse. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Murder at the Greenewood Speakeasy will be similar to last year’s program in that with the limited number of tickets each night, guests are assigned a character and information about the event prior to it happening. Then clues and revealing questions are given to the “suspects.”
Showman points out that the Friends typically raise about $1,000 each year from the Murder Mystery fundraiser, and because of the popularity of Murder Mysteries, there are a variety of programs that they can choose from to put on. Cocktails are served at 6:30pm with the mayhem to begin at 7pm. Tickets are $25 each and people can purchase them from Showman by calling 515-314-4656 or by emailing her at jazzygin@gmail.com.
The other event that the Friends organization is hosting is the Spring Book Sale. It will be going on for three days next Thursday through Saturday in the basement of the library. Barb Labate, who helps organize the book sale, says there is a large variety of books, audio books, board games, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, CDs and more. She adds that every day of the book sale is free admission and prices range from $0.25 to $2. Additionally, Labate points out that they now accept online payments. The Spring Book Sale is during the regular hours of the library on Thursday from 9-7 pm, Friday from 1-5:30pm, and Saturday from 9am – 1pm.
