National Library Week is being recognized now through Saturday, and the Perry Public Library has a few fun events coming up.
According to Adult Services Librarian Mindy Farmer, the overall theme is finding out what draws people to the library and encouraging them to share feedback about the features they love the best. She says the library will be doing a book swap on Friday from 6-7:30pm where people can bring in a book they enjoy and switch with another person, then they can read a new adventure. Farmer notes that the Friends of the Perry Public Library is hosting a t-shirt fundraiser now until April 12th. She unveils her favorite themed shirt in her collection.
“I have a ‘I’m with the Band’ (shirt) and it shows off some banned books that you’d be really surprised were banned. And so I really just love that one because I think it really shows how over the years, we’ve gone into wanting to kind of censor books and so I really like to look at that one.”
Farmer indicates that the organization is creating Perry Library themed shirts that will come in teal or blue color. She details if people buy their shirts now through the 12th, it will be delivered on April 21st. Any questions regarding the fun activities set up for the week can contact the library at (515)-465-3569.
