A Scranton man was arrested on Monday for an alleged assault.

According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of an assault in Scranton at 11:55am. A witness stated that they saw the suspect, 54-year-old Joseph Charleston, hit the victim in the face, causing injuries. Court documents show that the visible wounds on the victim indicated a physical altercation took place. 

The criminal complaint states that Charleston was eventually arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault. He was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was evaluated for self-inflicted injuries, and was then cleared to be booked into jail. A no contact order with the victim was also issued.
