The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.

The council held a public hearing on the City of Perry’s intent of disposal of public property by sale to VanKirk Storage, LLC and another public hearing relating to the status of funding activities for the City of Perry Upper Story Housing Program at 1306 2nd Street belonging to Nudgers Kerns Managers. Action was taken on the hearing for the VanKirk Storage, LLC.

Other items on the agenda that were approved included the final acceptance to acquire snow removal equipment for $385,988.86 to Bolton and Menk, a pay request for the snow removal equipment to Van Wall Equipment in the amount of $19,299.44, and a contract number agreement on the CDBG Upper Story Housing Conversion Grant for $44,362 to a property owned by Nudgers Kerns Managers, LLC.

Additional items on the agenda that were approved entailed a resolution to write off bad debt for uncollectible utility bills for the Perry Water Works and the City of Perry in the amount of $28,181.79, a resolution for tax abatement applications for residential construction completed in 2025 for Perry, a resolution for the site plan for reconstruction of an employee parking lot by Raccoon Valley Bank in Perry, and John McGee to be reappointed to the Airport Commission on a four-year term ending on March 31st, 2029.

The council also set public hearings on the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget and for the disposal by sale on the redevelopment of 2512 Lucinda Street and 1918 West 4th Street on April 21st, then a public hearing for the disposal by sale on the redevelopment of 1110 2nd Street on May 19th. All public hearings will be held inside the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building, 1102 Willis Avenue, in Perry.

The council held a second and third reading for an ordinance amending subsection to chapter 165 for the Central Heavy Industrial District to add off-street parking. A second and third reading took place on an ordinance for chapter 23 of the Planning and Zoning Commission to reduce the membership from seven to five individuals. Third Ward Barb Wolling was not present at the meeting.
