The City of Adel is giving residents an opportunity to clean out their homes on Saturday.

The city will be hosting the Spring Clean-Up and Hazardous Waste Pick-Up Saturday morning. According to City Clerk Carrie Erickson, people are encouraged to set out any unwanted items on their curbs before 7am Saturday, that will be grabbed by the South Dallas County Landfill. She details that unacceptable items include liquids, car batteries, concrete, and propane gas cylinders. Erickson describes that the city usually schedules the event following the weekend of the town-wide garage sale.

“It just works out pretty nice to put out anything you didn’t sell in your garage sale is what a lot of people do or if there’s other things that people wanted to set out, it’s just kind of a great way for everybody to come together and clean out their homes.”

In addition to the Spring Clean-Up, Erickson notes that the Hazardous Waste Pick-Up event will be happening at Kinnick Feller Park, 500 North 10th Street, in Adel from 10am-noon. She names items that are not eligible: ammunition, asbestos, electronics, explosives, fire extinguishers, latex paint, medications, and radioactive materials.
