A Bayard man was recently taken into custody for allegedly stealing from a business in Perry.

According to court documents, Perry Police Officers responded to an alleged break-in at Toys, Collectibles, and Games (TCG) Planet late Sunday night on April 6th. The criminal complaint states that police officers spoke with the owners, who provided surveillance video footage showing 28-year-old Alex Michael McClellan supposedly entering the store after closing time and allegedly disconnected the cameras inside the business.

Court documents state that officers were informed that McClellan was at Jay’s CD and Hobby in Des Moines attempting to sell the reported stolen items this past Wednesday. Officers then questioned McClellan and he admitted to officers that he stole two boxes of unopened cards as well as other items amounting to more than $10,000.

McClellan was then arrested and charged with a Class C Felony of theft in the first degree and a Class D Felony of burglary in the third degree. He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
