The 2025 Greene County High School Junior/Senior Prom is coming up on Saturday.
The festivities begin with the Grand March at 6pm in the high school auditorium and Kate Mobley invites everyone to see the styles that everyone shows up to prom in. She continues with the banquet being served at the Greene Room Events Center at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson at 7pm, followed by the dance in the same location from 8-10:30pm. She says After Prom takes place back at the high school from 11:30pm-3am Saturday. Mobley talks about why she likes having prom at the Greene Room Events Center, as well as changing the venue for After Prom that was at Perfect Games in Ames last year.
“Prom, I like it being at the Events Center because it’s just familiar or it’s more formal than being at the high school gym, or somewhere else where we’ve had it before. And After Prom, I just like it that it’s closer to home this year, and so we don’t have to go so far because last year it was an hour away and it just took a long time. So we have more time to actually be at After Prom.”
Mobley states that the doors open for After Prom at 10:30pm and then will be locked at 11:30pm sharp. She adds that there will be a variety of games and prizes, along with a hypnotist.
Devin Parker explains the theme for this year’s prom.
“Well, the theme is going to be ‘Neon Lights and Disco Lights’ and (the) funny thing is I actually came up with that idea, and the rest of the juniors and a few seniors did agree upon this theme for prom.”
Junior Advisor Kirsten Carman adds that about 130 students are expected to attend the banquet, with another 40 students to be included for prom. Tickets are available for just the banquet of $20 per person and the dance is $15 per person. Payments are due by tomorrow.
