Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center students will be competing at the Iowa High School Musical Association State Solo and Small Ensemble music contest tomorrow, and they are also a host site.
Band Director Kyra Babcock says that there will be 32 instrumental musicians from AC/GC competing, with a total of nearly 452 musicians from 19 schools making their way to AC/GC High School, which is the host site for the Class 1A contest. She mentions that performances from AC/GC include eight solos, four duets and three small ensembles.
Babcock explains that the doors open at 7am with performances starting at 8am. She adds that friends, family and community members are more than welcome to attend and watch the performances, and that admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students, with 60 percent of those proceeds going back to the host school. Babcock says that the Chargers Boosters will be providing lunch, and that the concession stand will be serving food and drinks as well. A list of the AC/GC performances can be found in this story online.
