The county owned campgrounds in Guthrie County will be returning to summer operational status soon.
Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that they are looking at getting things up and running at Nation’s Bridge and Lenon Mill Parks on April 15th. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what that work will entail.
“We will also, at that same time, be opening up the bottom campground at Nations Bridge Park. So yeah, April 15th, we’ll turn the water on and get everything hooked up, and up and going. And of course, that’s all weather permitting. We always want to throw that in there too. Right now, the weather forecast looks like there won’t be any issues.”
Halterman mentions that the water at both parks are shut off to be winterized for the cold temperature months so that there aren’t damages that occur to the lines. Additionally, he adds that the lower campground at Nation’s Bridge Park is closed off during winter so that individuals don’t drive down, and then get stuck there if the gravel road is iced over.
