The community play group for the Greenfield area, the Cumberland Rose Players, are performing tonight and tomorrow.

Member Brenda Thaden mentions that members of their group, along with members of theater groups from Corning and Shenandoah, will be putting on a series of several 10 minute plays. The Corning Players will perform “Door Bang” by Leslie Hewitt, with the members of the Southwest Iowa Theatre Group will perform “1-800” by Joseph Sorrentino and “Anti-Depressants” by Jeff Weisman.

Thaden explains that the Cumberland Rose Players members will perform “Abbott and Costello,” a reimagining of “Who’s on First,” where two teenagers unsuccessfully try to rehearse for their drama class. She adds that the second performance from their group will be the classic “Who’s on First,” which was performed by comedians Abbott and Costello. High schoolers and twin brothers Keland and Lyrick Schwartz will be performing “Abbott and Costello,” while “Who’s on First” will be performed by Phil Cannon and Sam Schwartz, who is the father of the twins.

Tonight’s performances will be at the Corning Opera House at 7pm, and at the Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield at 2pm. Tickets for the showings at the Warren Cultural Center will be available at the door for $10 for adults, while students high school aged and younger are able to get in for free.
