The Stuart City Council and Utilities Board will be holding a joint meeting Monday night.

The joint meeting will take place at 5:30pm, where the Board and Council will consider for approval headhunter services for future open positions, and Council Chamber audio and visual upgrades. After adjournment, the Council will then meet in regular session, considering for approval fundraising at the city sports complex by the cub scouts and boy scouts, a cemetery monument, and new Stuart Fire Department Officers. They will also hear from Steve James and Greg Irving about maintenance of a platted street north of 818 North Main Street, then hold a hearing on a nuisance violation at 224 North Harlan Street, before discussing the 2024 fiscal year city audit.

The Council will also hold a public hearing for a proposal to enter a general obligation insurance funding loan agreement, then consider approving it following the hearing. They will also consider for approval the Wambold phase three long term refinancing, then hear from City Engineer Forest Aldrich of Veenstra and Kimm on the sixth pay estimate for the 2023 Sanitary Sewer System of $40,081.78 to Visu-Sewer, and the sixth pay estimate for the 2023 Wambold Third Addition for street lighting in the amount of $7,216.54.

The Council will then hold a public hearing on the 2025-26 proposed city budget, and then consider adopting it, then hear from Stuart Economic Director Matt Funk about a certified site through Quest Site Solutions and the Iowa Economic Development Authority. They will also hold a public hearing on an ordinance amending the code of ordinances for the city by amending provisions of an arterial commercial zoning district, then hold the first reading of the ordinance.

Finally, the Council will consider for approval an appointment to the Utility Board. The meeting will begin at 6pm in the Council Chambers in City Hall. For those unable to attend in person, a digital option is available via the city’s YouTube page.
