Greene County sends its high school girls and boys track and field teams to the Carroll Coed Relays today at Carroll Athletic Field with action starting at 4:30 p.m. Twelve boys teams and 11 for girls are scheduled to compete. In addition to the Rams and the host Tigers, girls and boys from Audubon, Ballard (Huxley), IKM-Manning, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), MVAOCOU (Maple Valley), Perry, South Central Calhoun (Lake City), and Woodward=Granger are scheduled to compete, as are the girls from Denison-Schleswig, and boys’ teams from Exira-EHK and Nevada.
Today could be the last chance for Greene County high school individuals and relays to post performances high enough to qualify for the April 24-26 Drake Relays in Des Moines. Performances are accepted by Drake until late this Thursday night, but the Rams don’t have any meets after today on the schedule for this week. Boys’ head coach Chad Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio the Rams are looking into other meets later this week. According to Bound Iowa, the statistical website, only senior Emma Ewalt in the girls’ discus throw would be a Drake Relays qualifier as of performances posted by Sunday morning. Ewalt’s 123 feet, eight inches toss is tied for 23rd best and the top 24 performances are accepted to the Drake Relays in that event.
