The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Golf Team are three meets into their season, as Head Coach Dana Brown expresses joy seeing her largest roster yet.
Brown, who’s in her eighth year with the program, shares that there are 25 girls out for the season, which is the most she’s had since she’s been with the Tigers. She admits that it has been challenging to manage that amount of individuals, but the coaching staff is doing a good job spending quality time with each to get to know them better. Brown tells Raccoon Valley Radio that building bonds with the players is extremely important.
“We try to have fun in every little nook and cranny we can. Golf can be really frustrating whether you’re a beginner or a fourth-year player for us. We try and lighten the mood and in those little moments, I love sharing pictures, Instagram is a new area for us, it’s already getting a lot of great traction, we’ve got some good ideas, but it’s all about team bonding and giving our program more visibility and the fun that we’re able to have and the work we put in.”
Brown wants to create a healthy-fun environment for the girls, as she is working on skills to help them improve, but does her best to remind them that it’s just a game at the end of the day. ADM is 3-1 on the season as they will return to the River Valley Golf Course in Adel to host Woodward-Granger today at 4pm.
