A 4-1 start in Greene County High School boys’ soccer in the first season of the
“Two Chads” era has the coaches, players, and fans, pleased overall. After graduating a strong senior class in 2024 and the departure of Carl Behne as the only head coach the program had known, getting off to a good start in 2025 seemed to be important, and it has been.

Chad Black is now the head coach after being Behne’s assistant since 2018 when soccer at Greene County HS began. Chad Schwander is now the assistant coach.

Not only have the Rams won four of their first five, but have pitched shutouts on the “pitch” in their last two contests. The Rams blanked Carroll High 2-0 on April 10 in Jefferson, then won 10-0 by the 10-goal “Mercy” rule in the second half April 14 in Panora vs. Panorama. Greene County has scored 25 goals and allowed only six, and three of those were to Boone in the only loss so far, a 3-0 final.

Coach Black told Raccoon Valley Radio he believes the team has come together with movement and passing as a whole. “The shots on goal percentage is on the rise and “unselfish” is how I would describe the team. We have several players with multiple goals/assists.”

The Rams were scheduled to play at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on April 15, but that is rescheduled for May 6 due to an issue finding officials earlier this week. Next up for the Rams is a home date vs. Winterset on April 22 at Linduska Field with JV at 5:30 p.m. and varsity around 7 o’clock.
