The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council held a public hearing for the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget, and with no comments, approved it after closing the public hearing. They then approved renewing the pre-treatment agreement and permit between Guthrie Center and Rose Acre Farms for discharge into the City’s sanitary sewer system. The Council also heard from Dennis Ludwig and Renea Winkleback on how some non-compliance issues had been addressed at their property at 301 Main Street, and that there were other properties in town with similar violations. Following the presentation, the Council took no action.

The Council heard from Compliance Officer Wes Clark on some nuisance citations that he’s been following up on around the city. They also heard from Streets Superintendent Darin Sloss, who shared that his department has started spring street sweeping, and two members had recently completed gas bootcamp and are able to safely go out on gas calls from now on. City Clerk Kris Arrasmith gave her report, in which she told the Council that one of the townhouses at the Cameron Flat subdivision should be sold soon, and that she and City Attorney Dave Bruner took part in a conference call over the goat nuisance which is currently being disputed.
