The National Weather Service has downgraded the severe weather risk for the Raccoon Valley Radio area.

According to the National Weather Service, Greene, Dallas, Adair and Guthrie Counties are at an enhanced risk for severe weather, or a three out of five, on the severe weather risk categories. The National Weather Service says all modes of severe weather are still possible with strong winds, damaging hail and lots of rainfall, with the main threat being between 4pm and midnight tonight. Winds could gust as high as 70 miles per hour, at least one inch diameter hail and a 10-15 percent chance for tornadoes.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage anytime there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for Greene, Dallas, Guthrie, and Adair Counties. During the Severe Weather Action Team coverage, metrologists, law enforcement, emergency management coordinators, and others make reports to keep everyone in those counties as safe as possible from severe weather. Coverage of those storms continues until they move out of the listening area or drop below severe levels.
