The leader of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Community School District unpacks the changes being made to the English, Language, and Arts (ELA) Department.
ADM Superintendent Greg Dufoe shares that the district is revising their high school ELA Department for the 2025-26 school year. He reveals that during the last school board meeting, three teachers including Natalie Johnson, Emma Bedard, and Molly Johnson presented coursework they would offer under the new curriculum. Dufoe explains there would be more core courses available like composition, speech, as well as semester-long choice classes. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he appreciates the teamwork it’s taken to put this together.
“We’re just really excited! So that teacher team along with district and building administrators have just done a really good job. We were excited to hear an update about that program, and the board did then approve the resources related to it.”
Dufoe adds that the curriculum for the ELA program will provide a few new electives with individualized reading and film as literature. He mentions the new curriculum amounted to $79,989.23 and that the courses will be offered to students starting this fall.
