In April it was announced that Italian-based company ADR Axles is looking to build its North American headquarters in the Perry community.
According to Greater Des Moines Partnership Vice President of Economic Development Sid Juwarker, ADR Axles is a leading manufacturer of axles, braking systems, and suspensions for agricultural and industrial machines that began in the mid 1950s. Juwarker highlights the company will create about 35 jobs to start, then grow from there. Following the Tyson Foods Pork Plant that shut down last year, he believes this will be a crucial gain for the Perry community.
“This means a lot because I would say it’s a small win, but it’s a win, and there’s not any better way to say that than this is showcasing how that community came together to bring this project to Perry in collaboration with the partners (of) Perry Economic Development, City of Perry, Greater Dallas County Development Alliance, IEDA (Iowa Economic Development Authority), and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. We can all work together, we can make sure that the City of Perry is successful.”
Juwarker outlines the selling point for ADR Axles to choose Perry as the location for their headquarters came down to the resiliency of the community, plus how well all of the entities involved the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance, the Perry Economic Development, and the city all worked together to entrust a new company to plant its foundation.
Juwarker unveils that ADR Axles will build a 54,000 square foot facility at Perry’s Industrial Park that will cost around $14 million, which is scheduled to begin construction this year and is hoping to be completed by 2026. He notes that the Iowa Economic Development Authority is helping with funding, while the City of Perry is currently working on where the local incentives will be coming from.
