The Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team took to the air for nearly half an hour Monday night.
The National Weather Service issued tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings that were partially in Guthrie and Adair Counties at 9:12pm. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper reported that he was following behind the bulk of the storm cell, watching an area of rotation that was at the time at the intersection of Highway 148 and White Pole Road, which is located in Anita.
Cooper shared that the rotation had not condensed, and nothing had come down from the wall cloud at the time, but that he had reports of dime to quarter sized hail in the Adair area, from the north side of town to the south side. He added that the storm was moving quickly, at nearly 45-50 miles per hour. The tornado warning expired at 9:30pm, and the severe thunderstorm warning expired at 9:45pm. There were five members of Raccoon Valley Radio that helped with the storm coverage, along with Cooper and meteorologists from Weatherology.
