The public is invited to a special program coming up this Friday in Jefferson.
Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount is a huge fan of space and with Friday being National Space Day, she is hosting a number of activities from 7-9pm. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the event begins with a glow in the dark story time for newborns to seven-year-olds from 7-7:30pm, followed by space-themed crafts for the same age group from 7:30-8pm. Mount states that from 8-8:30pm there will be spaceship challenge games in the library’s basement for 5th-12th graders, and then wrapping up the evening with stargazing on the library’s lawn with special guest, Drew Sorensen.
“Drew, if you don’t follow him you should on Facebook with ‘Drew’s Astronomy Nights.’ He’s a local astronomer, (who is) very intelligent, very passionate man about what he does. You will never be bored when you have a conversation with him, and you will always leave feeling like you know just a little bit more about what’s going on above us.”
The event is free and the stargazing activity is from 8:15-9pm.
