The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council heard from Main Street Guthrie Center Board Member Steve Smith on a project the group is promoting to include veterans on the banners lining State Street, with the possibility of hanging some of the banners in City Hall while waiting for the banner brackets to arrive. The Council then set a public hearing for the fiscal year 2024-25 budget amendment for May 12th at 6:30pm, then heard department head updates from Street Superintendent Darin Sloss and City Clerk Kris Arrasmith.

The Council approved a quote from Sunshine Designs for a canopy tarp at the city pool for the side deck that Sloss shared, along with hiring Chase Slaybaugh and Daniel Woods as part-time help in the summer for mowing the parks and cemetery. Arrasmith shared that she had a meeting with PFM Financial Advisor representative Susanne Gerlach during the first week of May to begin reviewing city financials and creating a long term financial plan, adding that the Utility Board had opted to not use the financial services. She also mentioned that the east unit at the Cameron Flats project has been sold, and that the west unit will soon have counters and cabinets to be shown to prospective buyers.
