
The high school soccer teams from Greene County and Perry faced off on Tuesday. The boys played in Perry at Dewey Field and the girls met in Jefferson at Linduska Field and the Perry teams won both varsity contests.
Both boys’ teams had just one loss going into the action and the Blue Jays came away with a 4-1 victory. Junior Franklin Regalado put the Rams up 1-0 in the 50th minutes after a scoreless first half. Jacobo Cerna-Gomez answered with a goal in the 54th minute. The Blue Jays scored the final three goals, all by Jonatan Banuelos. The Blue Jays are now 6-1-3 and are ranked ninth in Class 2A. The Rams fell to 5-2.
Perry’s girls improved to 5-3-2 this season while the Rams fell to 0-9. Perry had three goals from Addison Perks and two goals apiece by Miley Sanchez and Ayden Erickson. Perry had single goals from Analeigh Van Broekhuisen, Jasmine Agreda-Barco, and Amy Diaz.
