Two communities in Dallas County were recently given grants for ethanol assistance from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).
According to Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board awarded cost-share grants to gas stations in 38 counties around the state for a total amount of $940,121. There were several in Dallas County, including the Casey’s General Stores in Adel and Redfield. The board was able to give Redfield $21,632, while Adel received $2,802.
IDALS states that the grants will help drivers save money as gas stations continue to offer E15, or unleaded 88. Governor Kim Reynolds passed a law in 2022 to enact the E15 Access Standard for most fuel retailers to provide that type of gas, ultimately mandating it by January 1st, 2026. IDALS began the grant program in 2006, and has now invested over $61 million towards expanding renewable fuels infrastructure in the state.
