Perry High School junior Ayden Erickson

Perry High School is holding their Junior/Senior Prom this Saturday, with a cool theme and activities planned.

According to Junior Prom Committee Member Ayden Erickson, the theme for this year is “Lantern Light Evening”. She explains that the decorations are self-made creations, featuring do-it-yourself (DIY) trees, a waterfall, and flowers, along with camping tents, and of course plenty of lanterns. Erickson describes that the night will begin with a Grand March inside the Perry Performing Arts Center at 5pm, with students arriving by 4:30pm.

Following that, she reveals that the dinner will be served at the National Guard Armory, 2930 Willis Avenue, in Perry at 6:30pm, with the dance kicking off at 7:30pm at the same place. Erickson shares that when the dance ends at 10:30pm, buses will load students to travel to Urban Air in Ankeny for After Prom, which will feature prizes before leaving at 2am to come back to Perry High School. She is stoked for the night, as she tells Raccoon Valley Radio she got her dress months in advance.

“I’m very, very excited for prom. I can’t wait! We’ve been looking forward to it. We’ve put in a lot of time and effort, so I’m very excited to see all that we’ve put into it and it’s going to be a great night.”

Erickson highlights that at After Prom, students can expect to jump on the trampolines, play dodgeball, basketball, and even be able to watch a movie. For more information regarding prom, contact the high school at (515)-465-3503.
