The three Iowa counties within the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area continue to trend upward in the latest drought conditions.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that Greene County is completely out of drought, with the slight southeastern portion of Dallas County abnormally dry, and the western side of Guthrie County dealing with abnormally dry conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, as of May 1st, Jefferson saw 4.3 inches of rain ahead of the normal monthly average of 3.58 in April; Perry was at 2.96 inches, which was down from its regular amount of 4.10; and Guthrie Center concluded at 4.25 inches of rain for the month of April, slightly in front of the average of 4.11 inches.
