Perry softball will begin practice on Monday. The Jayettes will have a new coach for this upcoming season, Emma Olejniczak. The former Perry star athlete takes over for long time coach Tina Lutterman. Emma tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the theme for her first year is Building on Our Foundation. “Softball in Perry started way back in 1969 and we are going to make sure that we are honoring those people that came before us and we are not trying to rewrite history. Perry softball has had some great teams throughout the 54 years and we just want to make sure that we are continuing to build that foundation.”
Emma was an assistant on last year’s team that made it to the Regional Championship, but ultimately fell to DCG. The first year coach is looking to change the standard. “We’re going to the Region Final every single year and consistently getting back to the State Tournament.”
Perry softball opens the year on May 27 hosting Greene County.
