Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High Schools are gearing up for their Junior/Senior Prom tonight, with unique themes for each.
Perry Junior Prom Committee Member Ayden Erickson says the theme is “Lantern Light Evening,” and will feature decorations of self-made creations that are do-it-yourself trees, a waterfall, and flowers, with camping tents and lanterns. She explains the schedule will start with the Grand March at the Perry Performing Arts Center at 5pm, then dinner served at the National Guard Armory, 2930 Willis Avenue, at 6:30pm and the dance to follow at the same location from 7:30-10:30pm.
Following that, Erickson notes that buses will load students and take them to Urban Air in Ankeny for After Prom, which has trampolines, dodgeball, basketball, and more. She details that they will stay there until 2am and ride back to Perry High School for parents/guardians to pick them up around 3am.
According to ADM Junior Prom Committee Member Lauren Hagedorn, the theme revolves around “Promalicious,” which will have iridescent colors of pink, purple, and silver. Junior Noelani Winter adds that the decorations will have a glittery glow, making for a bright color scheme. Junior Brenna Seidl details the evening will begin with the Grand March at 4:30pm at the high school, then students will grab food on their own. She highlights that the dance is taking place at Decades Event Center in West Des Moines from 8-11pm, followed by After Prom back at the high school from midnight to 1:30am.
