A Perry man was recently sentenced for inappropriate sex acts with a minor.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Aaveyohn Akeem Travis was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to a Class B Felony for distribution of drugs to a person under the age of 18, and ten years for a Class C Felony for lascivious acts with a child, with the two sentences to be served concurrently for a total of 25 years. The charges stemmed from an incident in September of 2024 when Travis allegedly groped a female child.

The court documents state that an investigation was opened by the Perry Police Department and discovered evidence on a witness’ cell phone that showed Travis touching the child inappropriately on the social media platform Snapchat. At the time of the incident, the victim told officers that she went to Travis’ house where he offered her to smoke marijuana with him.

In addition to serving the 25 year sentence, Travis must also pay a restitution fine of $1,370 and the statutory surcharge of 15 percent. As per the plea agreement, the Class B Felony for second degree sexual abuse was dismissed.
