Greene County played boys’ high school golf on Friday at Dayton’s Oak Park Golf & Recreation Course while the girls hosted Coon Rapids-Bayard at The Hill Golf Course west of Grand Junction.
The boys won among five teams in a nine hole event hosted by Southeast Valley. Coach Kyle Kinne’s team was one stroke better than Ogden, 173-174. SEV was third at 180, followed by Manson-Northwest Webster 208, and 231 for Glidden-Ralston. Nathan Towers shot 42 to lead the Rams and he was fourth overall. Drew Wolterman and Keaton Hinote tied with another golfer for fifth at 43, but they lost a playoff. Carter Hinote and Louis Schneider each were at 45. Karson Roper of SEV was medalist at 39. Coach Kinne added the Rams are a combined 10-0 in four meets in a seven day period that ended Friday. “This is a challenging course becasue you have to be precise with drivers and long irons with a lot of woods,” Coach Kinne said.
The girls lost to CR-B by three strokes, 204-207. Taylor Johnston of the Rams and Brielle Bass of the Crusaders had the low scores on the day at 47. The Rams had 48 from Maya Telleen, 54 from Alivia Cornell, and 58 by Lila Osterson. Johnston won the card back for medalist honors.
