Perry soccer meets Heart of Iowa Conference newcomer Grand View Christian tonight. The Bluejays will play at 5P at James W. Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines against the Thunder. While, the Jayettes welcome the GVC girls to Dewey Field for a 7:00P kickoff.
The Bluejays hope this will be the first of two games played at Cownie as the soccer complex in Des Moines is used for the Quarterfinals for the State tournament. Perry has already clinched the HOIC and will look to finish the conference schedule a perfect 5-0. The Bluejays enter the week ranked 9th in 2A polls. The same spot they held last week. GVC enters searching for their first ever Heart of Iowa win as they sit 0-1-2 in their inaugural season.
The Jayettes will look to get back in the win column after two straight losses. Perry closed last week falling to Panorama and Nevada. Coach Hernandez’s squad will be at full strength without a track meet. The Jayettes enter 5-5-2 ahead of tonight’s match with 6-3 Grand View Christian. The Thunder are led by the top goal scorer in the HOIC, Kennedy Knight. Coach Hernandez tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s not to familiar with their opponent. “Their record they look good. I don’t know how much good competition they play against, but I think we’re excited to go and challenge them. We have all our girls so we’re going to give them a good game, I believe.”
Dewey Field will host the girls tonight at 7:00P.
