The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Monday.

The meeting started with Board Vice Chair Dawn Rudolph reading a statement about the HVAC project for the Greene County Courthouse that stemmed from several social media posts. She laid out the options and what the possible consequences could be of each, along with mentioning the fact that there is about $1.8 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds from the federal government that are earmarked for the project.

Greene County Public Health Director Shelby Cooklin spoke to the Board about the Stop the Bleed training sessions that she wants to do with courthouse staff and other county employees, and to go over the items that are in the kits to give individuals information on how to stop the bleeding from traumatic events. The Board agreed to move forward with the sessions with county employees.

Then, Greene County Development Corporation President Scott Weber announced that Director Ken Paxton is stepping down effective May 30th and that their organization is looking into potential candidates for the position. Multicultural Family Resource Center Director Sara Huddleston gave an update. She said she meets with various students several times per week, was involved in some of the Career Exploration Camps with Greene County ISU Extension and is helping with the Vision 2030 initiative.

Next, the Board approved the first reading to create an ordinance against public sex acts, and then they heard a presentation from Jacob Hagen and Tyler Buman about agricultural-related engineering services called AgriVia that is based in Perry. They offered lowered overhead costs with agriculture drainage services. Supervisor Chair John Muir was comfortable with the work that Hagen had done over the past decade with a prior business. The Board did not take formal action following the presentation. The Board then approved the County Treasurer’s quarterly investment report and scheduled the public hearing for May 27th at 9am for the fiscal year 2025 budget amendment.
