The Guthrie County Conservation Department is preparing for their busy season with the weather turning to spring.

Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that with the weather being nice enough, they are doing a lot of work to have everything prepared for spring and summer when more people use the public areas they maintain. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what they are up to.

“(We’re) continuing to work on the trail and keep that up kept and maintained as best we can and still being able to get out there into our wildlife areas, and river accesses, and wildlife preserves and keeping our walking trails functional.”

Halterman mentions that in April they reopened closed areas of Nations Bridge Park, and de-winterized water lines there and at Lenon Mills Park. He adds that as the year progresses, they are looking forward to the increased number of visitors to the parks, and seeing everyone enjoying the outdoors.
