The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.
Farnsworth Group Architect Principal Kristofer Orth presented to the board a design layout of how the newly proposed evidence storage building and firing range is coming along. He shared that the two entities would be interconnected using one main entrance, which will be located on the west side of Adel close to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Orth also displayed a variety of brick fixtures for the building, and said they have up to a couple of weeks to make a decision, as development is planned to begin in September. If approved, Turner Construction would be the contractor for the project.
Items on the agenda that were approved included a fifth pay application for the Secondary Roads Administration Building addition of a garage in the amount of $118,923.89, a pay application for a final retainage release to give Turner Construction $9,200 for a final amount of $25,945,667 for preconstruction services on the new County Administration Building project, a one year renewal contract for County Engineer Al Miller starting on July 1st, and the board signed a software agreement with Truecomp for government compensation.
Additional approved items on the agenda included a health insurance plan renewal with Holmes Murphy to accept a medical plan with Prudent RX, a four-year contract with the City of West Des Moines to extend the multi-purpose event center at the RecPlex for $100,000 beginning in the fiscal year 2027, a geothermal agreement with Afton Energy of Omaha, Nebraska, and then appointing Erin Spellman as the Beaver Township Clerk for three years, as well as a three year term for Chuck Bishop on the Constructions Appeal Board, and Heidi Chapman on a three year term for the Historic Preservation Committee. The meeting ended in a closed session pending litigation.
